Pour développer ce projet j’ai porté une attention particulière aux différents témoignages que j’ai pu lire et écouter. Notamment, parce que le sujet m’apparaît suffisamment grave pour que j’ai le sentiment de lui devoir la vérité. J’ai dans ces choses précises l’impression de trouver des choses précieuses.
La liberté nous attend est une installation sonore et visuelle in situ composées en deux parties :
- Joseph, Joseph, Charles, Joseph, André, Pierre, Georges, Alexandre, Pierre, Robert :
Installation sonore en hommage aux dix résistants communistes emprisonnés puis fusillés à Fontevraud pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Le son est diffusé tous les jours à 15h30, heure historique des exécutions.
- Réplique :
L’hommage rendu aux résistants se matérialise au centre de la cour à travers la reproduction d’une stèle érigée à la mémoire des fusillés sur un terrain militaire, à quelques kilomètres de l’Abbaye. « Réplique », signifiant également une contre-offensive ou contre-attaque, convoque notre vigilance à ne pas oublier.
Il s’agit de remettre cette partie de l’histoire au centre de l’abbaye, ainsi que de créer des allers-retours (mentaux ou physique), entre ces deux formes qui marquent le début et la fin d’un parcours.
Son poudrage charbonné réfère à la cendre des camps de concentration et de travail vers lesquels les prisonniers politiques étaient transférés après leur incarcération à Fontevraud, mais surtout à cette matière énergétique largement utilisée pendant tout le conflit, nourrissant l’effort de guerre.

"Freedom awaits us (2021) is another of the artist’s projects that delves into the legacy of war. During her residency at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, the artist fixates her gaze at the historical period when the abbey operated as a prison for the dissidents of Nazism. She develops a site-specific work composed of two parts: In tribute to ten prisoners that were executed, an installation with sounds of gunshot was broadcast daily at 3:30, the time of execution during WWII. The artist also reproduces a stele erected several miles away from the Abbey in memory of the political dissidents, and places the Replica in the center of the Abbey’s courtyard. Utilizing the idea of counter-offensive or counter-attack, the French connotation of “replica,” the artist calls for the public’s attention to the historical time." I-Ying Liu

Freedom awaits us is an in situ sound and visual installation composed of two parts:

Sound installation in tribute to the ten communist resistance fighters imprisoned then shot in Fontevraud during the Second World War.
- Replica :
The tribute paid to the resistance fighters is materialized in the center of the courtyard through the reproduction of a stele erected in memory of those shot a few kilometers from the Abbey.
